Marangu Route is also known as the “Coca-Cola Route”. The Marangu is the Headquarter of the park and the easiest route on the mountain. It is the only route which offers sleeping huts, suitable for tourists who don’t like camping. The route takes a minimum of five days however six days is recommended because you will have to spend an extra day at Horombo Hut which helps for acclimatization. The trek begins at Marangu Gate (South-East) of the mountain but also ends the same route to Marangu Gate. The main attractions found on this route are Zebra Rocks and Mahundi Crater.
Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa! Situated south of the equator – in Tanzania – at 19,340 feet, (5895m) this is Africa’s highest mountain and the highest “free standing” mountain in the world. Its permanent glaciers, in tropical Africa, give it its spectacular image and is the greatest reward for heroic climbers whose satisfaction lasts a lifetime.
