The Rongai Route is close to the Kenyan border, it is the only route which approaches the mountain from the Northern side. People who ascend through the Rongai route will descend via the Marangu route. This route considered an easier option, it takes a minimum of six days however seven days recommended.

Day 0: Kilimanjaro Airport to Arusha
You will meet our driver(s) at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO), and transfer you to the hotel or lodge in Arusha.
Day 1: Rongai gate- Simba Camp 2671m.
Check-in to the Rongai gate (Nalemoru) border of Tanzania and Kenya. Ascend to Simba camp. Dinner and overnight. Hiking time: 2-3 hours
Day 2: Simba camp to Kikelelwa Cave
Leave Simba cave early morning, take a long walk to Kikelwa caves (3679m) for dinner and overnight. Hiking time: 6-8 hours of walking.
Day 3:Kikelelwa Cave to Turn hut
Leave Kikelelwa camp (3679m) to Mawenzi Tarn Hut (4330m) The camp is free for acclimatization during the evening. Hiking time: 3-4 hours of walking.
Day 4:Mawenzi Tarn camp (4330m) – Kibo hut (4700m)
Continue ascending on the east side of Kibo crossing the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo taking 4 to 5 hours to reach Kibo Hut. The remaining time of day is spent resting in preparation for the final ascent, which begins around midnight. Overnight at Kibo Camp
Day 5: Kibo hut (4700m) – Uhuru Peak (5895m) – Horombo hut (3720m)
After light breakfast, you will start your summit journey at 12:00 am. Enjoy your special night by walking slowly (pole pole). You might be exhausted on the way up but never give up, just keep on going while drinking frequently. At Gilman’s Point 5,681m you will be able to spend a short time drinking tea/hot water. It will take 1 hour and a half from Gilman’s Point to Uhuru Peak. Congratulations! Enjoy your moment celebrate conquering the peak of Africa, After taking photographs to descend back to Kibo for short rest before descending to Horombo hut for dinner and overnight.
Day 6:Horombo Hut- Marangu gate
After the last breakfast on the mountain, you will descend about 5 to 6 hours back to Marangu Gate to collect your certificates. Our drivers will be waiting for you at Marangu Gate to take you back to the hotel or lodge in Arusha
